Alberta Provincials

Posted: 24 October 2011 in Uncategorized

Rolled out this past weekend to the cycling hub of Alberta. Devon. Wicked for the support they show to the cycling community with hosting National Chamipionships, at least a few bike races a year, and the latest TV competition.

Course was a huge step up from last year with everything being much more open and faster. with one major climb per lap and a couple sand pits to mix things up, the most interesting obstacle being the single (uber low) barrier right in front of all the spectators which preceeded the spiral death trap thinggy. Many people crashed on this barrier, and some went a bit over the top and decided to bunny hop WAY higher than needed… Pictures can be found at Mark Kay’s Website.

Race: Not many guys came up from Calgary this weekend, actually I think there were less than a hand full of Calgarians racing in the Elite field, which was a bit of a bummer. Set a strong pace early on in the race and then layed the hammer down in the second half to ride away and take win # 4.

Next up Nationals…
